Hi, I'm Oriana
Like most people, I’m a mix of many things. I write and design content, and I also build marketing and communications strategies for brands. I’ve worked for the biggest beauty company in the world … and I’ve also worked on a fish farm in Hudson, NY. I’m French and Venezuelan, but also grew up in the U.S., so I've been pretty confused about that most of my life.
But trying to make sense of the world has led me to some pretty cool projects. I’ve linked a few below. They’re a bit all over the place – I’ll admit. You’ll see a photo of a woman with pink hair, and an Instagram post that went viral about how to cook a whole fish (you're welcome, home chefs). You’ll also find some of the more “serious” work I’ve been lucky to do – like helping companies prepare for the very real risks of climate change.
I include as well some of my earlier work from my time as a journalism student at Boston University. Something about a 20-year-old interviewing senators and reporting from the Massachusetts Statehouse feels like an important part of the path that eventually led me to shampoo, trout and now climate. More specifically, to the intersection of food, sustainability and communications – a space I am deeply interested in, inspired by and eager to make a mark in, one bite or one story at a time.
What excites me most across these different projects and interests is the same: stories about how humans move through the world. It might sound fluffy, but it's probably one of the only things I'm sure about. I’m a journalist at heart who lives comfortably in the in-between – and I hope to keep working on projects that help me (and maybe you) understand this wild world a little better.
[ When I’m not creating things, I’m usually laughing with friends and family, running or finding quiet in the kitchen, in the woods, and in the pages of a zine. Maybe one day, I’ll add one of my own to this portfolio :) ]
